Description

This is a late 16th century timber-framed cottage, which was later encased in early 19th century brick and subsequently rendered. The roof is covered with plain tiles, with a coped right-hand gable. There are brick gable stacks on the left-hand side and along the ridge. The cottage has one-and-a-half storeys and a three-window front, with the right-hand bay potentially representing an addition to the original structure. At the front, a brick porch with a lean-to roof sits between the first and second windows on the left. The ground floor windows have segmental arches and contain 20th century casements, while the upper floor windows are also 20th century casements and feature 2 and 3 lights. Inside, the cottage reveals exposed posts, beams, and ceiling joists, along with cross-frame trusses featuring queen struts. Some timbers indicate their reuse from an earlier building.
