Description

This is a late 16th-century cottage, largely encased in brick during the late 18th century, with extensions added in the early 20th century. It is timber framed with a plain tile roof. The cottage, originally a two-bay single-story building with a central smoke bay, has end stacks and later extensions to the rear. The front elevation features two three-light casement windows, and a porch is located on the left side. Timber framing is exposed to the gable ends. Internally, significant timber framing remains, including a queen post roof with dovetailed tie beams and pegged rafters. In the 19th century, the building was used as a hopstore, before reverting to domestic use in the earlier 20th century.
