Description

Cherville Cottage and Cherville House, dating from the late 18th century and later, are located on Church Road. The main front of Cherville House faces east and features two storeys with a hipped old tile roof. The building is constructed of red brick with some vitreous brick headers and has a brick eaves cornice. On the first floor, there are two sash windows, with one being rather narrow, both set in brick reveals and without glazing.

On the ground floor, there is a central porch from the 19th century supported by two Doric columns and end pilasters, topped with an entablature. A central flight of steps leads up to the doorway, which has eight fielded panels, with the top two being glazed. To the right of the porch, there is a sash window with a very slightly segmental arch, flanked by louvred shutters, featuring a box frame and no glazing bars.

On the first floor, facing Mill Lane on the north side, there are two sash windows, one of which is narrow, both in brick reveals and adorned with stuccoed voussoirs and a central keystone above, also without glazing bars. On the ground floor of Cherville Cottage, there is a sash window with wooden shutters. To the left, there is a flat arched doorway leading to a vestibule with a door in the west wall. To the right, there is another doorway with a small flat hood on shaped brackets above. Additionally, there is a modern two-storey extension with one bay at the western end.
