Description

The Roman Catholic Church of Saint Augustine of Canterbury was begun in April 1838 and designed by architect Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin. It is built in the Perpendicular style using red brick with stone dressings. The church features a nave with a small bell turret and a west gallery. Inside, it contains a 16th-century Flemish triptych. In 1878, a west porch was added and the chancel was rebuilt according to designs by Charles Hansom.
