Description
The Village School, built in the later 19th century, is located on the north side of Church Lane in Berkswell. It is constructed of red brick with painted stone and stucco dressings, topped by a tiled roof featuring stone coped gables. The building is one storey high with attics, showcasing flush bonded quoins and a plinth. The central and end bays are slightly recessed. The windows are primarily sashes with glazing bars set in chamfered surrounds, and there are two ground floor dripmoulds along with a central first floor canted oriel bay window. This school is included for its group value, as it is part of a collection that includes the adjoining cottage to the east, the Post Office, the Village Stores, the house next to the Village Stores to the west, and the house next to the Village School.
