Description
Top Lock is the first lock in a flight of eight on the Walsall Canal, completed in 1786. It is constructed of blue brick, with sandstone kerbs to the chambers, although these have been partly replaced by concrete. The lock features single gates and has cast iron sluice gear on each bank on the upstream side.
