Description
Farley Clock Tower is a clock tower built in 1897 by Edward Pincher, featuring relief panels by Albert Hopkins. It is constructed of red brick and terra cotta and has a square plan. The base of the tower includes a continuous inscription below a moulded string that reads: "This tower was erected in recognition of the public services of Alderman Reuben Farley JP." On three sides, there are relief panels depicting the Town Hall, Oak House, and Reuben Farley. The east side features a doorway with a round head and moulded decoration. The upper stages of the tower are supported by clasping buttresses that end in octagonal pinnacles. Above the clock stage and beneath a cornice, there are three open arches on each side. The tower is topped with an openwork dome that has a finial and weather vane.
