Description

The memorial attached to the north wall of the Memorial Gardens in Wednesbury is a war memorial dating from 1926, designed by Bateman of Birmingham. It is made of limestone and features a central tablet with a moulded border, which is currently blank but was likely intended for a Roll of Honour. This tablet is framed with a round head that includes a shell motif. In front of the tablet is a pedestal inscribed with the words: "TO OUR GLORIOUS DEAD 1914 - 1918. 1939 - 1945". The entire structure is flanked by Roman Doric columns that support an entablature and a dentilled pediment.
