Description
This barn, dating from the 17th century, is located approximately 3 metres west of Hazel Grove Farmhouse in Allesley. It features timber-framing with brick infill. The front wall is mostly obscured by a single-storey lean-to addition, although some square-panelled framing is visible. The right-hand gable wall is primarily brick and includes a truss with slightly curved principals and straight struts connecting the tie-beam and collar. Mortices in the principal posts indicate that the barn originally extended further to the east. The left-hand gable wall has a similar truss, but with V-struts above the collar and straight braces from the principal posts to the tie-beam. The interior was not accessible during the survey but has been recorded by the SPAB barn survey.
