Description
Church Farmhouse is a house located on Church Lane in Corley. It dates from the 17th century but was mainly constructed in 1784, with later alterations in the 19th century. The building features a timber frame and red brick in Flemish bond, set on a coursed sandstone plinth. The roof is gabled and covered with plain tiles, with a side stack made of sandstone and brick on the rear wall.
The house has a single range plan that includes a two-bay service range and a two-bay parlour addition from 1784. It is two storeys high with an attic, and the roof was raised in the late 19th to early 20th century. On the first floor, there are three casement windows, two of which are located under rusticated arches with keyblocks that replicate those from 1784. The ground floor features three-light wood casement windows with segmental arches from the 19th century. The framing is exposed in the gable end wall.
The 1784 parlour wing is also two storeys with an attic, featuring two first-floor wood casements under rusticated flat arches of stone with raised keyblocks, and two similar windows on the ground floor. There is a doorway with a mid to late 20th-century porch that has a plain-tiled roof. The gable end displays a stone dated to the gable head above an original oculus window, which has a moulded stone surround and old leaded lights. The two ground floor windows also have rusticated stone arches, but with cornices to the raised keyblocks.
