Description
The Erdington Conservative Club, located at 93 Orphanage Road, is a building dating from around 1700. It is constructed of brick and features two storeys plus an attic. The front of the building has five bays, with a brick plinth and plat bands over the ground and first floors. A prominent boxed moulded eaves cornice adds to its architectural detail. The roof is tiled, equipped with a saddlestone and shaped kneelers at the gables, and there are three hipped-roofed dormers. The first-floor windows are narrow, featuring 19th-century glazing in flush frames, while the ground floor windows have been partly altered in the 19th century. A mid-19th-century pilastered doorway is present, and the south gable end showcases a large external chimney stack. The rear of the building was extended and a balancing cross-wing was added to the north around 1880.
