Description
Westhaven, formerly an orphanage, is a building from the 18th century or early 19th century located on the south side of West Street in Warminster. It has two storeys, a cellar, and an attic, constructed of coursed rubble with an old tile roof that is hipped to the right-hand return. The building features off-ridge brick chimneys.
On the first floor, there is a central single light window flanked by tripartite windows, which are late glazed sashes. The ground floor has two tripartite windows and a six-panel door set in deep panelled reveals, surrounded by an architrave. Above the door is a plain frieze and a small flat cantilever hood. To the right, there is a two-light mullioned cellar opening.
At the rear, there are two hipped gabled extensions with stone base courses, tiled roofs, and brick quoins and dressings. The building also has three dormers: one on each return and one in the centre.
