Description
Nos 24 and 26 Pound Street are 18th century buildings located in Warminster. The structure is two storeys with an attic and is finished in stucco beneath an old tile roof. It features two hipped dormer casements and glazing bar sash windows, with five windows on the first floor, the central one being semi-circular headed. The ground floor has four windows, all slightly bowed except for those on the first floor, and all are framed with architrave. The central door is composed of six panels and is set in an arched opening with an architrave surround and a small keystone. Above the door is a fanlight with a radiating wreathed and curved glazing pattern. The doorcase is adorned with rusticated strips, cut console brackets, a broken moulded cornice, and an elaborate moulded and dentilled open pediment. The building is set back from the road, with plain rails on a curved retaining wall.
No 26 is an extension to the southwest of No 24, dating from the early to mid-19th century and has been altered. It is also two storeys with a half hipped old tile roof, finished in stucco. This section features two ranges of late glazed sashes and is screened from the road by an 8-foot wall made of local rubble work, which extends from the railings of No 24 about 10 yards.
