Description

Nos 12 and 13 Frederick Road are a modest pair of semi-detached villas built between 1840 and 1850. They are two storeys high and have a stucco façade with notable Italianate details. The design features a three-bay central block with recessed entrance wings. The villas have a high plinth and large quoin pilasters with flattened console brackets beneath a plain frieze, while the wings have single pilasters that return on the corners. The roofs are hipped and covered with slate, featuring flat eaves, a central cut-down stack, and flanking chimney stacks made of stucco and painted brick. The windows are plain revealed glazing bar sash windows, with three in the central block and one in each wing, along with an arched window above the doorway of No 13. The doorways are framed by simple round-headed architraves and feature three-panel doors with fanlights above.
