Description

49 Frederick Road is a detached villa built around 1840, located in Edgbaston, Birmingham. This two-storey, three-bay structure is made of red brick and features a plinth and quoin pilasters that align with a shallow frieze, framing the front of the building. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, having flat eaves with brackets that were added in 1952, along with flanking chimneys. The windows are revealed glazing bar sashes with stucco sills supported by consoles, and stucco heads flanked by consoles. The ground floor windows have thin cornices and pediment blocking courses. The doorway has an architrave with a pediment, panelled reveals, and a door with a patterned fanlight, all of which were renewed in 1952 by Harrison and Cox, who also added porthole windows on either side. The building is included for its group interest.
