Description

This is a lock cottage with an attached office, built between 1841 and 1844, and later altered. It is constructed of brick and features a hipped roof covered with concrete tiles, supported by two large ridge stacks. The building has a heavily rusticated appearance, with quoins and a dentilled eaves cornice. It stands two storeys high and has five bays.

On the ground floor, from left to right, there is a single doorway with a 20th-century door, followed by a canted four-light bay window with a flat roof that was part of the former office. Next is a single six-light sash window, then another doorway with a 20th-century door, followed by another six-light sash window. The first floor contains three regularly spaced six-light sash windows. All door and window openings, except for the bay window, have chamfered reveals and cambered arches.
