Description

No 266A on Broad Street is a building dating from around 1860, constructed of brick with stone dressings and a minimal use of colored tiles, designed in the Venetian Gothic style. It stands three storeys tall and features six bays arranged in a rhythm of three, two, and two: two, two, and three. The ground floor has modern shop fronts. The first floor is adorned with a triplet and a couplet of pointed windows, which include tilework in the tympana and carved foliage capitals. A sill band runs across the second floor, which has windows similar to those on the first floor, but these are linked at the level of the springing of their arches by patterned tiles. The building is topped with a patterned and bracketed parapet.
