Description
No 1 Old Broad Street is a building from 1903, designed by Chatfield Clarke. It features a stone-faced exterior with three main storeys and two attic storeys, the upper one being recessed. The building has a triangular shape with a rounded corner bay. There are four bays facing Threadneedle Street and seven bays on Old Broad Street, with the central three bays slightly recessed. The ground floor has semi-circular window arches with hollow splayed reveals. The first-floor windows have blocked surrounds, large keystones, and cornices. The second-floor windows are architraved and flanked by Ionic half pilasters. The lower attic storey, above a modillion cornice, has architraved windows with ears and a balustrade on top. The original steep roof storey has been replaced with a plain recessed upper attic.
