Description
26 Throgmorton Street is a mid-19th century building designed by T. Chatfield Clarke, originally conceived as two separate structures. The eastern section features a Gothic style with an arcaded front made of Portland stone, standing four storeys high with two stone dormers on the slated roof. The ground floor showcases polished granite columns, although the entrance is now blocked. There is a balcony on the first floor, along with carved decorations and subtle dressings of pink sandstone, and a corbelled cornice. The western part has a rendered front in a modified Italianate style, also four storeys tall but on a larger scale, featuring three arched openings on each storey and four above the cornice. This section includes columns at the central entrance and a balcony on the second floor.
