Description
The General Post Office, located at Victoria Square, was built between 1889 and 1891 by Sir Henry Tanner. It is constructed of stone and features a slate roof. The building has three storeys plus an attic and is designed with five bays, where the central bay is slightly advanced and showcases superimposed orders. The diagonal corner bays have pedimented entrances and also feature superimposed orders. The ground floor includes arched openings, while the first and second floors are adorned with cross windows. The structure boasts a lively skyline, highlighted by an arched window set within a pedimented attic, steeply pitched roofs with dormer windows, and corner polygonal turrets topped with pediments, small domes, and urns as finials.
