Description

Hill Farmhouse is a timber-framed house, dating from around the 16th and 17th centuries, with a later wing added to the west. The exterior is rough cast rendered, set upon sandstone foundations. It has a steeply pitched plain tile roof with gabled ends, featuring 19th-century bargeboards. The building follows a roughly "H" shaped plan, consisting of two-storey gabled end cross wings and a single-storey plus attic central section. The timber framing is visible at the rear of the eastern cross wing.

The central section has a recessed entrance with a plank door, sheltered by a gabled timber porch dated 1855, bearing the initials AHG. Flanking the door are 19th-century metal three-light casement windows with glazing bars. Two flush-gabled dormers are positioned above the central section, each featuring 19th-century two-light casement windows with glazing bars. The cross wings incorporate 19th-century metal three-light casement windows with glazing bars on the ground floor and matching two-light casements on the first floor. There are three brick chimney stacks: one on the ridge of the central section and one in each cross wing. A red brick lean-to addition with a cat-slide roof extends from the east gable.
