Description
28 Willes Road is a house, now converted into flats, dating from around 1835 with later additions and alterations, including a later 19th-century range to the rear left. The building is constructed of pinkish-brown brick with an unpainted stucco facade and a Welsh slate roof. It has two storeys and features three first-floor windows.
The ground floor includes end pilaster strips with Tuscan capitals, which are formed by a moulded first-floor sill band. This band is topped by four Tuscan pilasters at the ends and on either side of the central window. The facade is adorned with a frieze, cornice, and a low parapet that has four urns. The first floor has one-over-one sash windows with moulded surrounds and blind boxes.
The central entrance on the ground floor is accessed by three roll-edged steps leading to a part-glazed, three-panel door set within a distyle Tuscan porch that features engaged pilasters, a frieze, a dentil cornice, and a blocking course. To the right, there are two rectangular bays, which are shallow and have tall half-sash windows with decorative glazing bars. These bays also have a dentil cornice and a low parapet. The building has tall end stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
