Description
This is a villa dating from approximately 1834, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco facades, a Welsh slate roof, and a cast-iron verandah.
The main part of the villa is two storeys with a basement, featuring three first-floor windows. To the right is a two-storey section with an attic and a deeply-recessed single bay. The villa has a chamfered plinth and horizontal rustication to the ground floor, with a first-floor band.
The first floor of the main range has 2/2 sash windows with sills and plain reveals. The recessed bay to the right has a pair of round-arched lancet windows; a similar pair is present in the attic, also with plain reveals and continuous sills. The ground floor of the recessed bay has a flight of steps leading to a 6-panel door with a tooled surround. A second part-glazed, 6-panel door is located within the porch, accompanied by three-pane side-lights. The remaining ground floor windows are 6-pane French windows with margin-lights and divided overlights with margin-lights. A continuous verandah features an oval motif to the posts. The basement has a central entrance with a part-glazed door and two 8/8 sash windows with plain reveals and sills. The building features a frieze, cornice, blocking course with raised, pedimented panels, and end and roof stacks.
Inside, the villa retains a staircase with stick balusters. Leam Terrace was laid out between approximately 1828 and 1836, and both sides of Willes Road were almost completely built by 1841.
