Description

New Bridge, built in 1814, carries the drive to Stoneleigh Abbey and was designed by John Rennie. The bridge features heavily rusticated stone and has a main span with one dry arch on each side. Between the arches and on either side, there are four round-headed niches. A moulded string band runs at road level. At this level, there is an open balustrade above the arches, while solid panels are present in the balustrade above the piers and abutments. The ends of the parapet have panelled piers. Part of the bridge is located in Stoneleigh Parish.
