Description
Grecian Lodges are a pair of lodges built around 1814 from sandstone ashlar, located on Grecian Lodge Drive, associated with Stoneleigh Abbey and designed by C. S. Smith of Warwick. They feature low pitched slate roofs and are square in shape with a projecting bay facing the driveway, each having a splayed front. The lodges are single storey and have panelled pilaster strips at the corners, a continuous entablature, a wide projecting cornice, and a low parapet surrounding the entire structure. The windows are sashes with glazing bars set in moulded architraves with aprons below, and there is a plain plinth. Each lodge includes a central sandstone ashlar chimney stack. Additionally, from the outer angle of each lodge, there is a curved curtain wall that ends in a square pavilion, each featuring a niche that faces Stoneleigh Road.
