Description

This is an 18th-century red brick house, originally a single dwelling, which has now been divided into two separate homes, Abbey Farmhouse and Abbey House. The house has a steeply pitched roof covered in plain tiles with gabled ends, and a brick cornice along the eaves. A decorative string band runs around the building at first-floor level. The front facade features a four-window arrangement. At ground level, there are three two-light casement windows, each set within a segmental brick arch. The two windows belonging to Abbey Farmhouse have six panes of glass per light, while the window belonging to Abbey House has three panes. A part-glazed door, also beneath a segmental brick arch, gives access to Abbey Farmhouse. The first floor has four windows. Three are located in Abbey Farmhouse, and one in Abbey House. These are two-light casement windows, with six panes of glass per light in Abbey Farmhouse and three panes in Abbey House. One window has been blocked. Two brick chimney stacks are situated at the gable ends. A later, parallel range was added to the rear of the house in the late 19th century.
