Description
43 Mill Street is a Grade II* listed building that appears to have originally been part of Guy's Court (No 45) but is now a separate dwelling. The structure features a timber-framed cross wing that likely dates back to the 16th century, facing the lane and adjacent to the entry of "Gables" (No 41). The gable end showcases original moulded barge boards and a turned finial. The upper storey includes a single 5-light oriel window with moulded transoms and mullions, supported by ogee console brackets. The first floor is jettied and features larger ogee brackets on both the left and right sides. Most of the building is constructed with fairly close set studding, while the splayed bay on the ground floor is of 18th-century origin and is painted to match the timber framing. The roof is covered with old tiles. All the listed buildings on both sides of Mill Street form a group.
