Description
Nos 68, 68A, 70, and 72 on Smith Street are modest two-storey properties with an attic, dating from the late 17th century. They have walls made of painted stone and feature a splayed plinth. The first floor includes cottage-type casement windows, while there are small 19th-century plate glass shopfronts. The roof is covered with restored tiles and has three gabled dormers. The rear of the buildings shows timber framework with red brick nogging. No 72 has a modern shop window that is considered inoffensive. These buildings are part of a group that includes all the listed properties on the south side of Smith Street from Nos 54 to 76.
