Description
Sansome House is a mid-18th century house constructed from squared, coursed limestone with a coped gable. It features a stone slate roof with ashlar end stacks that have moulded bases and cornices. The building has two storeys plus an attic and an L-shaped plan, with a three-window range. The central entrance has a 20th-century glazed door. On the ground floor, there is a 20th-century four-light and three-light casement window, the one on the right featuring a stone flat arch. The first floor has a range of three 20th-century cross casements with original wood lintels. There are also two gabled dormers, which are hung with stone slates. The rear wing and the left gable end have additional two- and three-light casements with flat stone arches. A lead County 'Britannia' firemark is present on the building. There is a 20th-century extension to the rear that is designed in an imitative style. Inside, the house has chamfered spine beams and joists on the ground and first floors. The open fireplace has been rebuilt, but the original timber bressumer has been reused.
