Description
Marraway Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1830, with a rear section that may be older. It features a double-depth plan and a rear wing. The building is constructed of brick, with ashlar and stucco dressings, and has a hipped slate roof with brick chimneys.
The exterior has three storeys and a symmetrical three-window arrangement in the Georgian style. The round-headed entrance includes a fanlight above a panelled door and is framed by a Tuscan porch. The windows have sills and rusticated wedge lintels over 12-pane sash windows, while the second floor has 6-pane sashes. The side returns each have two sashes per floor, with the left return featuring a single 16-pane sash on the ground floor.
The two-storey rear wing has two gables flanking a narrow gabled infill above the entrance recess, which has doors leading to the back and one side. The rear and side returns of the wing have segmental-headed windows with cross-casements or three-light transomed casements, some of which include leaded glazing. The interior has not been inspected.
