Description

The Old Vicarage is a mid-17th century vicarage, now a house, with a cross wing likely dating to 1879 and 19th-century alterations. It was likely raised at some point. The main building is constructed of regular coursed ironstone, while the cross wing is of ashlar. The slate roof is double-span with coped gable parapets. The cross wing has a hipped roof with deep eaves. An ashlar ridge stack has a moulded cornice, and right-end stone stacks have brick shafts.

The building has a double-depth plan and three storeys, with a three-window front. The main range has a central doorway with a chamfered Tudor arch in a straight head, featuring sunk spandrels and a hood mould. The doorway is flanked by late 19th-century two-light chamfered mullioned canted bay windows with a moulded parapet, and three-light double-chamfered mullioned windows with hood moulds. A small central light is present on the second floor. The cross wing has slightly-projecting corners. It features sash windows with margin bars on the ground floor and 16-pane sashes above, all with stone lintels and keystones.

The left return side has a three-window range, with a square porch featuring Doric pilasters and a moulded entablature. A moulded eight-panelled door with an overlight is set within the porch, and there are sash windows on either side. The right return side is irregular.

Inside, a room to the right has an open fireplace with an ogee stop-chamfered bressumer and ogee stop-chamfered ceiling beams.
