Description
The Rectory is a house that was formerly a rectory, built in the mid-18th century. The front is constructed of brick in Flemish bond, featuring a chamfered stone plinth, a moulded stone storey band, and a moulded modillion stone eaves cornice. The rear is made of coursed limestone rubble. It has a stone-slate roof with brick end stacks and a central-staircase plan. The building has two storeys plus an attic and a five-window range of 12-pane sash windows with moulded stone sills and cambered brick lintels that include stone keyblocks. The central entrance features a part-glazed panelled door with a fanlight, surrounded by a moulded stone frame and accessed by three stone steps. There are three gabled dormers on the roof. Flanking the main range are two 18th-century stone ranges, each with coped gables and roofs made of tile and stone-slate. Each of these ranges has two storeys, with a sash window featuring a moulded stone surround and keyblock on each floor. At the rear, there is a two-storey catslide range with an 18-pane horizontal sliding sash window on the first floor, as well as a stone gabled range to the rear left and another stone gabled range to the rear right. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
