Description
The stable block, located approximately 20 meters northeast of Barton House, dates from the early 17th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone, featuring a chamfered plinth, quoins, and coped gables. The roofs are a combination of stone-slate and 20th-century tiles. The building has three bays and is two stories high, with a three-window range that includes two-light mullioned windows on the ground floor, complete with hood moulds and labels, and two hinged casements with wood lintels on the first floor.
To the left, there is a four-centred arched chamfered doorway, while the right side features an elliptical-arched chamfered doorway, both with plank doors. Above the right doorway, there is a chamfered circular pitching eye. A three-stepped mounting block is located in the center. The right gable end displays a large moulded sundial and three-light mullioned windows below it. At the rear, there is a large 19th-century one-storey stone extension that includes two four-centred arched doorways and four gabled dormers with two-light mullioned windows. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
