Description
Oversley Hill Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century to early 17th century, with alterations and heightening that occurred in the mid-19th century. The building is timber framed, featuring lath and plaster or brick infill, and is roughly rendered with a lias ashlar base. It has a 20th-century tile roof and lias stacks with brick shafts. The farmhouse has a double depth plan and stands three storeys tall with a two-window range.
The central mid-19th century porch includes a half-glazed door with glazing bars set in a moulded wood surround. The windows are 19th-century wood and iron three-light casements with glazing bars, while the ground floor features wood mullioned and transomed windows. The first floor juts out on simple brackets, and both the left and right return sides have large stacks with moulded cornices and square shafts, which are adorned with square and V-shaped pilaster strips; the tops of these stacks have been rebuilt. The rear of the building also features a jetty, and the gables are unequal in size, contributing to the irregular fenestration.
Inside, some framing is exposed, and there are chamfered ceiling beams. The interior includes winder stairs, 17th-century eight-panelled and three plank doors, as well as early 18th-century two-panelled doors. The attics have a composition floor, and original roof trusses remain visible.
