Description
The Tompkins headstone, located approximately 2 meters south of the transept of the Church of St George in Newbold Pacey, commemorates Thomas Tompkins, who died in 1713. It is made of ashlar and is well preserved. The headstone features an inscription that is flanked by twisted pilasters with a cornice above. The frieze above includes a swag that is carried in front of the panel and ends in bows, topped with a swan-neck pediment. Additionally, there is a verse inscribed on the reverse side.
