Description
No. 2 School Road is a house located in Wellesbourne, dating from the 17th century, with a 15th-century cruck truss and significant restoration carried out in the late 20th century. The front is constructed of red brick in stretcher bond, while the left end wall is in English bond. It features a gabled roof with renewed tiles and is designed in an L-shape.
The exterior is two storeys high with a three-window range. The entrance, located to the left, has a half-glazed door with a gabled canopy. The ground floor includes windows with timber lintels above modern two- and three-light casements, while the first floor has two-light casements in the centre and to the left, with an additional window to the right. The left side of the building has modern windows on both floors.
At the rear, there is an earlier single-storey wing with an attic, featuring renewed square framing. This wing has paired two-light casements on the ground floor and two gabled half-dormers with two-light casements.
Inside, some original timber-framing and chamfered beams can be found, along with a full cruck truss at the right end, dating back to around 1430. Most of the interior was rebuilt around 1990.
