Description
The Stags Head Inn is a public house located in Wellesbourne Mountford, originally built in 1837, with elements dating back to the 17th century and later alterations and additions. The building features a timber frame with painted brick infill on a brick plinth and has a steeply pitched thatched roof, complete with a brick end stack and a stack at the rear of the ridge. It is designed in an L-plan.
The exterior consists of two storeys and presents a three-window range. The central entrance features a 20th-century door set within a shallow porch that is attached to a lean-to projection on the left, which has a canted bay window fitted with leaded glazing. There is also a canted bay window on the right. On the first floor, there are three windows, including a half-dormer on the left, with 2-light small-paned casements. The right end of the building has a wide brick plinth, a canted bay window, and a first-floor window with wood architrave, also featuring a 2-light small-paned casement. Adjacent to this is a two-storey brick rear wing with a slate roof, similar casements, and a blocked entrance, along with various rear additions. The interior has not been inspected.
