Description
There are three headstones located approximately 1 metre south of the chancel and 1 metre east of the south aisle of the Church of St. Michael. Two of the headstones are made of limestone. One is inscribed "To ye memory of/William Crooke/gent who Depd this/life may ye 13th/1703 Aged 71 years". This inscription features a scrolled surround, and the top is decorated with hour-glasses, skull and crossbones, and a shrouded face. The second headstone reads: "To the memory of/Elizabeth ye Wife of/William Crooke Gent/who Depd this life/july ye 25th/Aged 58 years". It is similarly adorned with scrolls, skull and crossbones, hour-glasses, and a shrouded face. The third headstone is from the 19th century and is not considered to have special architectural interest.
