Description

This is a late 17th-century house located on Post Office Lane, Stockton. The house is timber-framed and sits on a lias stone plinth with brick infill. It has a 20th-century tile roof and a brick internal stack. The building was originally planned as two units. It is two storeys high with a two-window front, featuring 20th-century casement windows. The first floor windows are set within gabled half-dormers. A 20th-century door, protected by a wooden lintel, is located on the right-hand side. The rear of the building also has 20th-century casements and gabled half-dormers, and a single-storey brick extension has been added to the right. A tie-beam on the left gable end is incised with the date '1693'. Inside, a large chamfered spine beam features jewel stops, and it is believed that the original roof timbers remain.
