Description
145 and 147 High Street is a pair of houses, one of which is now a shop, dating from the late 18th century with later alterations. The buildings are constructed of painted brick laid in Flemish bond and feature a gabled old tile roof with brick stacks at the rear of the ridge.
The exterior consists of two storeys with a three-window range. No. 145, which has a single-unit plan, features an entrance at the right end with a plain surround leading to a six-fielded-panel door. To the left, there is a large window with a rubbed brick flat arch above a 20th-century small-paned casement, and on the first floor, there is a window with a similar three-light casement.
No. 147, which has a two-unit plan, has a central entrance adorned with an architrave, frieze, and cornice leading to a 20th-century half-glazed door. It also has flanking shallow bays with fascias above plate glass. The first floor of No. 147 features two windows with 20th-century casements. Inside, No. 147 is noted for having some exposed beams.
