Description

Barclays Bank, which was formerly a rectory, dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century and has undergone later alterations, including the addition of a porch. The building is constructed of stuccoed brick with ashlar dressings and features a gabled old tile roof with stone-coped gables. It has a central staircase plan and stands two storeys plus an attic, with a symmetrical five-window range.

The exterior includes a moulded plinth, quoins, a top cornice, and a coped parapet with gables that have ball finials. The entrance features a 19th-century porch with angle pilasters, a frieze, a cornice, and a parapet. The inner entrance has an architrave and fielded-panel reveals leading to paired three-panel doors. The ground floor windows have sills and plain architraves, with 6/6 sash windows. There is also a late 20th-century automatic teller machine to the right of the entrance. The first floor windows also have sills and architraves with key blocks, while the gables feature small-paned bull's eyes in rectangular architraves flanking a small gabled dormer that is concealed by the parapet. The rear of the building has gabled wings.

The property is complemented by attached iron railings on stone plinths on either side of the entrance.
