Description
This building is a barn, cart arch, and stable, dating from the 17th to 18th century, located approximately 50 meters southeast of Lower Farm House in Napton on the Hill. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with the front wall of the stable rebuilt in brick. The roof is made of corrugated iron over the remains of thatch. The structure is L-shaped, with the stable in the cross-wing on the left and the barn to the right, which has three bays. There is a central doorway leading to the farmyard, which is partly blocked by a plank door and obscured by a 20th-century lean-to addition. The barn features vents and a slightly wider doorway to the rear. Inside, the roof has a queen strut through purlins with original rough rafters. The upper part of the cart arch is covered. The stable includes a stable door and a small fixed light window on the right return side. The interior also contains old stalls.
