Description

Breach Farmhouse, now a house, dates from the 17th century, with an 19th century wing added to the rear and an outshut extending to the rear on the left under a catslide roof. Restorations, additions, and alterations occurred in the 1980s. The farmhouse is timber-framed, with painted plaster infill and reddish-brown brick to the left part and right gable end. The left part has a stone plinth, and the roofs are covered with plain tiles. There are brick stacks.

The building is shaped like a long "L" with an additional range at the front. It is single-storey with an attic and has three bays. The left part exhibits small panels of square timber framing. A plinth is present on the left side. Entrances are located at the front (right), to the rear, and to the right range. These entrances have 20th century plank doors and moulded wooden surrounds. Renewed 2-light and 3-light casement windows are found on the ground and attic floors, with those in the brick section set under elliptical arches. Exposed rafters crossed at the apex and trenched purlins are visible on the right and left gables. A large external stack is located at the corner of the front range, and there is a front extension. Gabled roofs and ridge and lateral stacks are also present.

The interior features visible timber framing with square panels to the front part, and some close studding to the right part. An inglenook fireplace with a bressumer beam is located at the rear left. Exposed chamfered beams and rafters are also present.
