Description

Numbers 1, 2, and 3 Cherry Tree Cottage are a group of three cottages dating from the 17th century, with later remodelling in the 1970s and rear extensions. They are built with small timber framing featuring arched braces, with renewed pinkish-brown brick nogging and a renewed plain-tile roof. The cottages originally had a probable two-cell lobby-entrance plan to the right, with a single-cell addition to the left.

The cottages are single-storey with attics, and have a three-window range. The ground floor entrances are located to the left, off-centre left, and on the right return, and they have 20th-century part-glazed plank doors. The windows are renewed 20th-century wood casements. The gabled roof has three raking dormers. A large stack is positioned on the left side, and another is located on the right ridge. The right gable end is timber-framed.

Inside Number 2, there is extensive evidence of timber framing, including close-studding to a partition wall, an inglenook fireplace, and a chamfered beam with an ogee stop. The interiors of the other cottages were not inspected.
