Description

A pair of houses dating to around 1870, likely designed by John Gibson and built for the Compton Verney estate. The houses are constructed of rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings, and have a tile roof with a large, central stack featuring buff brick shafts. They are arranged as a symmetrical, single-storey-and-attic, two-window range. Each house has an entrance recessed beneath a segmental-pointed arch. The ground floor windows are cross-mullioned with chamfered surrounds, decorative glazing incorporating elongated octagons, and rock-faced relieving arches. Similar cross-mullioned windows are found in the gabled half-dormers of the attic. The returns of the houses also have cross-mullioned windows; the right return has a single first-floor window. The interior was not inspected.
