Description

This chest tomb, located approximately 0.5 meters south of the chancel of the Church of St. Lawrence, is dated 1706 and 1728. It is made of limestone and features a moulded plinth and ledger. The sides and ends are adorned with Ionic-style pilasters and stylised foliage. The inscription on the south side reads: "Here lyeth Interred/The Body of M Edward/Lambert he Departed/This Life July ye ? 1706." The west side has a further inscription: "Also Here Lyeth/The Body of Elizabeth/The Wife of M. Edward/Lambert She Departed/This Life October ye 14/1728 aged 77."
