BURMINGTON SP23NE 7/1 Burmington Farmhouse and attached cartshed

GV II

Farmhouse. C17 to rear. Dated 1730. Limestone and brick, in Flemish bond with some flared headers, and flared headers in 2 diamond patterns. Limestone plinth, quoins and coped gables. Stone slate roof with brick end stacks with stone bases. 2 storeys plus attic; 3-window range. 3-unit plan. To centre right a 4-panelled door with large semi-circular hood. To ground and first floors a range of 3 wood cross casements with cambered arches. 3 gabled dormers. To centre left and centre right of first floor a stone panel, that to right inscribed 'NG/I730' with lead 'Britannia' firemark above. To right part of building a C18 stone and part C19 brick one-storey range with plank stable door to left and 2 cross casements with wood lintels. Attached to left of farmhouse a C18 stone cartshed with stone slate roof and double plank doors. C17 rear of house has 3-light mullioned window in stair tower. Interior: stone flagged floors. In room to left a C17 stone fireplace in corner with 4-centred arch and moulded surround and spandrels. Moulded cornice. Further open fireplace with ovolo-moulded timber bressumer. Chamfered spine beam with jewel stops.
