Description

This is a mid-17th century farmhouse with attached cartsheds and stables, extended in the mid-to-late 19th century. It is constructed of random and coursed rubble limestone with ashlar chimneys and a stone slate roof. The farmhouse is two storeys with an attic. A long cartshed range extends to the rear, incorporating stables at the centre.

The right-hand side of the front elevation, representing the original 17th-century part, has a two-window arrangement. It features three-light recessed cavetto mullioned casements with hoodmoulds. The ground floor contains restored 19th-century casements. A central, two-storey gabled porch projects, featuring a chamfered doorway with a hoodmould over the stone lintel, and a two-light chamfered mullioned casement above. Two gabled dormers with 20th-century casements punctuate the roof. Ashlar chimneys are positioned on the ridge at each end of the original house. To the left is a 19th-century addition, with a gabled front and rear and a single window on each floor, including the attic; all have hoodmoulds. A projecting verge defines the gable. The north end features an eaves-mounted chimney, with the upper part constructed of yellow brick. A rear outshut extends from the 19th-century addition.

The rear elevation shows two wings, the right wing having timber casement windows with timber lintels. A south-facing cart shed range extends, incorporating a stable with doorways in an arcaded front. The interior remains uninspected.
