Description
The walls with railings, gates, gatepiers, and stile located to the west and south-west of Grey Gables were built in 1885 by William Clissold for Edward Paul. They are constructed of ashlar limestone and wrought iron. The gateway leading to the current Manor Drive features piers with vermiculated rusticated bands and panelling below a moulded modillion cornice topped with a pyramidal cap, along with a moulded plinth. The elaborate iron gates have a scrolled top that rises at the centre. Curved flanking walls have moulded coping and plinths, ending in simpler ashlar piers with a dentil cornice. The walls are topped with iron railings featuring elaborated spikes. A wall with iron railings continues to the north, ending with a pier. Adjacent to the south pier is an iron stile with a simple stone post beyond. The Italianate style of these features matches that of Grey Gables, with which the railings and gateway are grouped.
