Description

Coughton Cross is a medieval stone wayside cross located on the east side of Birmingham Road in Coughton. It features a square socket stone with chamfered corners and the stump of the shaft, all resting on three steps. The cross dates from the 18th century to the early 19th century. Surrounding the cross are wrought iron railings set on a stone kerb. Local tradition holds that travelers entering or leaving the Wilds of Feckenham Forest would offer prayers or thanksgiving at this cross.
